Mr. Powers was born in Ottumwa and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a retired business manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Ocie; three sons, Fred Jr. of Thayer, Dennis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Robert of Stockton, three daughters, Lois Lee of Afton, Mary Powers of Blandford, and Martha Williams of Danvers, two stepdaughters, Sue Palmer of Des Moines and Mary Jo Oden of Waukon; two brothers, Gene of Des Moines and Frank of Storm Lake; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Donald Irving Wolfson, 61, of Dana Point, died of cancer Thursday at Hospice Kavanagh House, 900 56th Des Moines. Graveside services will be at noon today at Jewish Glendale Cemetery. Mr.

Wolfson was born in Des Moines and lived here most of his life, moving to California nine years ago. He was a retired manager with Mission Hospital Deli in Mission Viejo, and had been a businessman in Des Moines. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons, Steven of Des Moines and Robert of Vista, his mother, Dora Wolfson of Des Moines; two brothers, Jerald of Kansas City, and Herman of Tacoma, and a sister, Shirley Dubansky of Des Moines. Dunn's Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Willard John Evans, 63, of Uti- ca, died of complications of Alzheimer's disease March 22 at a care center there. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Grace Tabernacle in Des Moines. Burial of the cremains will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Evans was born in Clinton and lived in Des Moines most of his life, moving to Utica three years ago. He was a retired machinist with Delavan Manufacturing. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two sons, Lee of Des Moines and John of Arkansas; two daughters, Debra Egenberger of Des Moines and Sue Waldrop of Nebraska; two brothers, Henry of Clinton and Donald of Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a step-grandchild. Arrangements were handled by Woods Bros. Funeral Home in Seward, Neb. Leland F. Harding, 77, of Mar- shalltown died of a respiratory ailment Wednesday at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday at Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home, with burial at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Harding was born in Marshall County and lived in Clemons most of his life, moving to Marshalltown six months ago. He was a retired water commissioner and town marshal for Clemons and a member of Minerva Wesley Chapel. Among survivors are his wife, Alberta; two daughters, Pat McKinney of St.

Charles and Beverly Ellis of Des Moines; a sister, Edith Ulery of Marshalltown; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Each time a six-pack of lowa Sesquicentennial Commemorative CocaCola is purchased, a portion of the proceeds pays for the distribution of 220,000 copies of The Goldfinch magazine to fifth-grade classrooms across the state. The Goldfinch, an award-winning children's publication from the State Historical Society of Iowa, is being sent out by the Iowa Sesquicentennial Commission, which is providing each classroom with a subscription. William Reid King, 80, of 7005 Sunset Terrace, Windsor Heights, died of a heart attack March 21 in Naples, Fla. The body will be cremated and memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines.

Mr. King was born in Richmond, and had lived in Des Moines since 1952. He was a partner and former vice president with Storey-Kenworthy Co. He was an Army Air Corps veteran and a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Rotary Club, Za Ga Zig Shrine, Des. Moines Golf and Country Club and the Des Moines Club.

He also served on I several community boards, including the Youth Homes of MidAmerica, American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; two daughters, Nancy Cheeseman and Kathryn Bradley, both of Des Moines; and four grandchildren. Woods, 94, of Heritage Manor Care Center, 5608 S.W. Ninth died of complications of diabetes March 12 at Des Moines General Hospital. Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Southtown Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Clearfield Cemetery.

Mr. Woods was born in Decatur County and lived in Des Moines 67 years. He was a retired diesel mechanic with GibbsCook Co. and a member of Southside Assembly of God and the Ham Radio Operators Club. Survivors include five sons, Charles of Des Moines, Richard of Oregon and John, Virgil and Raymond, all of California; two daughters, Niomi Surber and Esther Merkel, and a sister, Ruth Jacobs, all of Des Moines; 38 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 12 greatgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Leonard A. Messer, 74, of New Sharon died of cancer Tuesday at New Sharon Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Sharon Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Mr. Messer was born in Lockridge and lived in New Sharon several years.

He was a retired teacher and assistant school superintendent, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Coffin-Miller American Legion Post and past president of the Mahaska Teachers Association. Survivors include his wife, Carol; two sons, Lawrence of Winterset and Mark of Mason City; two daughters, Lorraine Richards of Oskaloosa and Kathleen McLaughlin of Scottsdale, four sisters, Viola Samuelson and Grace Samuelson, both of Fairfield, Gladys Willich of Buffalo and Esther Dollins of Davenport; and nine grandchildren. Jacquline L. Trotter, 42, of New- ton died Tuesday at home. The cause of death is unknown, pending the results of an autopsy. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

Burial will be at a later date. Mrs. Trotter was born in Las Cruces, N.M., and had lived in Newton since 1972. She was a forklift driver for Maytag Co. and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Newton and the United Auto Workers Local 997.

Surviving are her husband, Monty; two daughters, Tamra Marshall of Monroe and Michelle Trotter of Newton; and her parents, Lucille and Jerry Rouze, a brother, Steven Rouze, and her grandmother, Louise Jackson, all of Newton. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Ruth Bulkley, 94, of Boone died of a stroke Wednesday at Boone County Hospital. The body will be cremated and no services are planned.

Miss Bulkley was born in Perry and lived in Boone most of her life. She was retired director of the Special Services Department of Woodward State Hospital and a member of Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine and King's Daughters. Harold A. Lossner, 64, of 4115 Eighth Place died of a heart ailment Wednesday at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior Luther an Church, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr.

Lossner was born in Afton and lived in Des Moines all his life. He was a retired teacher at old Tech High School, an Air Force veteran and a member of the Antique Airplane Association, Northfield Flying Club, Experimental Aircraft Association and Highland Park American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Janet; a son, Michael of Des Moines; a daughter, Patti Lee of Waterloo; two sisters, Maxine Novak of Des Moines and Janice Durham of Lake Mary, and five grandchildren. Gade, 89, of Roland died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center of injuries he sustained in a fall. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.

He was the former mayor of Roland, a retired administrator for Iowa State Student Health Services and a member of Roland Kiwanis.
