World of Warcraft Giving Huge Bonus to Players Who Didn't Farm Frogs in Mists of Pandaria Remix (5)

Highlights

  • The Gulp Frog farm exploit in WoW: Remix will be addressed with nerfs to Cloak of Infinite Potential.
  • Players who did not farm will receive 40,000 Bronze through new milestone quests.
  • The changes balance out the event for those who farmed and those who did not, offering fair rewards.

World of Warcraft just announced that players who benefited from the Gulp Frog farm in WoW: Remix: Mists of Pandaria will have their Cloaks of Infinite Potential nerfed, while those who did not can score an easy 40,000 Bronze through a series of quests. These adjustments and improvements mark what is likely to be the conclusion of the frog farming fiasco in the World of Warcraft event.

Shortly after WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria started, players discovered that farming Gulp Frogs on the Timeless Isle was an extremely efficient way of acquiring Bronze and threads for the Cloak of Infinite Potential. However, only a few days later, World of Warcraft nerfed this farming method by removing Lesser Charms of Good Fortune from the frogs' loot tables. What’s more, World of Warcraft later began tracking characters who farmed frogs via an internal database update.

Now, World of Warcraft has revealed the purpose of this tracking, as well as some changes to address the discrepancy between those who did and did not farm. According to the forum post by WoW community manager Kaivax, characters with “an unreasonably large number of Gulp Frogs kills prior to the loot bug fix” will have the power of their Cloak of Infinite Potential “reduced to an amount that a very engaged player could reasonably achieve.” Meanwhile, all other characters will gain access to three milestone quests as they level that reward a total of 40,000 Bronze when completed.

Frog Farming Adjustments in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria

  • Characters who took advantage of the frog farm will have some stats removed from their Cloak of Infinite Potential.
  • Those who did not will gain access to three new milestone quests from Momentus, the NPC for upgrading gear in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria at the Jade Forest Infinite Bazaar.
  • Available at levels 50, 60, and 70 for each character, these quests award 3000, 7000, and 30,000 Bronze respectively, for a total of 40,000 Bronze.

Considering the most expensive mounts available in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria cost 38,500 Bronze, this free currency is a big deal. This stipend also seems to be available for each character players create, so these milestone quests also made raising alts to level 70 an incredibly efficient way to pick up rewards from the event.

Unfortunately, this announcement has no good news for fans who cashed in on the Gulp Frog farm, as they miss out on these quests and are having their cloaks nerfed. That said, they get to keep all the other currency they earned – and considering some players were able to accrue hundreds of thousands of Bronze in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria from frogs, this change seems like the best middle ground to balance the scales against those who missed out.
